approaches – what he calls “the long-form and the
short-form free-from promise.
“Some brands publish extensive lists of all the
ingredients that are not contained in their products,
and some publish shorter, bucketed ingredient lists,”
he explains. “The shorter list is easier to communi-
cate via in-store merchandising, but the long list may
appeal more to the core wellness-engaged consumer. It
depends on the retailer and their customer demograph-
ics. In any case, if your brands have a free-from claim,

“Absolutely,” Jorgensen says. “Health and wellness

Customer Demand Fuels the Rise of
Consumers today are savvy about added sugars in their foods and beverages and are seeking better-for-you options
in order to make healthier lifestyle choices. Their growing demand for sugar-free sweeteners reflects larger societal
shifts towards products which taste great but aren’t laden with unnecessary sugars.

In the past year alone, the USDA, FDA, and HHS have all put forth measures to curb
the amount of added sugar consumed by the average American. These efforts highlight
the connection between dietary choices and chronic disorders, including cardiovascular
disease and obesity.
The American Heart Association recommends a daily added sugar limit of less than 36
grams/150 calories for men, and less than 25 grams/100 calories for women and children
over two years old. Now, customers can easily meet this goal with the SweetLeaf family
of stevia sweeteners.
SweetLeaf Liquid Stevia Sweet Drops™ are available in a variety of flavors to add sweetness and flavor to anything. The
fast-dissolving drops have no calories, sugars, or artificial ingredients and won’t spike blood sugar. SweetLeaf Water
