APPLES AND BANANAS… OH MY
Bake’n Joy has added Apple Spice and Banana Chocolate Chip flavors to its line of PanFree
Predeposited 18-ounce Loaf Cake Batters. As part of the FreshBakes line of pre-deposited muffin, loaf
and cake batters, the 18-ounce loaves go directly on a sheet pan for hassle–free cycle baking.
The Apple Spice loaf is a combination of sweet chunks of apple, cinnamon bursts and a blend of cinnamon and other spices. It can be baked plain or topped it with the North Andover, Mass.-based company’s Gourmet Cinnamon Streusel to enhance the cinnamon surge.
The Banana Chocolate Chip loaf is sweetened with banana purée loaded with chocolate chips and
finished off with a touch of molasses. Company officials say the banana purée makes this a moist loaf
cake that is complemented by the chocolate.
Bake’n Joy PanFree Predeposited Loaf Cake Batters are pre-measured and deposited into paper-lined
aluminum pans and flash frozen for the freshest taste and perfect performance. The pans are placed in
plastic carrier trays, 6 per layer, for easy handling and are packed 18 to a case for convenient storage.

Consumers will soon have a solution to minimize contact with raw ground beef when
preparing meals. Minneapolis-based Cargill
has unveiled EZ Peel packaging for ground
beef chubs. The technology—developed by
Bemis Co., a global supplier of flexible packaging—will be exclusively used for Cargill’s Our
Certified ground beef 1-pound chubs, which is
tube-shaped packaging typically recognized for
its easy-to-store, economical, freezer-ready and
conveniently portioned benefits.
“We know that consumer desires are chang-
ing and our team is diligently working to provide
innovative solutions to meet these desires. The
new EZ Peel packaging is just one of the lat-
est innovations in Cargill’s ground beef prod-
ucts,” says Katie Blick-White, brand manager for
Cargill’s Our Certified ground beef line. “The tra-
ditional chub packaging has not been modified
for a long time, so this is the first major change
to the packaging in years. We’re listening to con-
sumers and want to provide convenience for
their home cooking experience, while also main-
taining our reputation for delivering high quality,
fresh, nutritious and flavorful meat. Limiting the
need to handle raw ground beef also enhances
the food safety aspect of meal preparation.”

GLOBALLY INSPIRED YOGHURT FLAVORS
Bellvue, Colo.-based noosa yoghurt has added
three globally inspired flavors to its lineup. The
flavors include orange & ginger, strawberry &
hibiscus and pear & cardamom. The tart and
sweet flavors pair the velvety plain yoghurt with
juicy fruits and a hint of herbs and spices, say company officials.
Orange & Ginger is a subtly complex fusion
of taste and smell. The flavors of tree-ripened
oranges and freshly minced ginger are complemented with the company’s rich, creamy and
slightly tart plain yoghurt.
Strawberry & Hibiscus is a tropical twist on a
classic yoghurt flavor. Plump ripe strawberries are
gently muddled then infused with real hibiscus
flowers. The flavors all rest below a thick blanket of
rich, creamy and slightly tart plain yoghurt.
Pear & Cardamom is sweet and juicy. Bartlett
pears are plucked right from the grove, finely
minced and slowly stewed with Indian cardamom,
then topped with a velvety layer of rich, creamy
and slightly tart plain yoghurt.
