How important is a hearty breakfast for kids?
According to the U.S. National Library of Medicine, there is a direct
correlation between eating breakfast and better educational outcomes.
So, what is better than a hearty breakfast? How about a hearty Mexican
breakfast? “Breakfast remains an exciting frozen Mexican food sub-cat-
egory,” says Rachel Cullen, president and CEO of Ruiz Food Products,
based in Dinuba, Calif.
To meet the growing demand, Ruiz Foods offers its El Monterey
Simply Breakfast Egg, Turkey Sausage, and Cheese Breakfast Burritos.
Made with real scrambled eggs and fresh-baked, whole grain tortillas,
Simply Breakfast Burritos have 11-grams of protein and 220-calories.
“El Monterey Signature Breakfast Burritos and El Monterey
Signature Simply Breakfast Burritos offer great solutions right in the
frozen food aisle, saving consumers time and money while making
fueling up for the school day easy and convenient,” says Cullen.
Beyond breakfast, Ruiz Foods offers products in its El Monterey
Signature Empanadas in two flavors: Beef, Mozzarella and Monterey
Jack Cheese with Mild Jalapeños; White Meat Chicken with Cheddar
and Mozzarella Cheese; as well as its El Monterey Bigger! Bolder!
Taquitos in two flavors: Chicken and Monterey Jack Cheese and Beef,
Cheddar; and Monterey Jack Cheese.
Keep America Beautiful has honored Giant Food Stores and
Martin’s Food Markets with its 2016 National Community Improvement
Award for Waste Reduction and Recycling.
Keep America Beautiful’s National Awards program recognizes the best
of the best among the Keep America Beautiful network of more than 620
state- and community-based affiliates, leading corporate partners and
individual volunteers across the country who have committed to delivering cleaner, greener and more beautiful communities. The Ahold Delhaize
subsidiary was honored because its Giant/Martin’s Bags to Benches program was an integral part of Keep America Beautiful’s Great American
Cleanup of Pennsylvania.
“On behalf of all of our associates and customers, I want to thank Keep
America Beautiful for this great honor,” says Tom Lenkevich, president of
Giant Food Stores, based in Carlisle, Pa. “We’re especially excited to partner
with our customers who have participated in our Bags to Benches program
by recycling their plastic bags at all of our locations. Every bag we recycle
together won’t end up in a landfill.”
It takes approximately 10,000 plastic bags to make one park bench.
Since 1997, nearly 15 million plastic bags have been turned into more
than 1,700 benches, which Giant/Martin’s has donated to local community
fire departments, churches, schools, townships, parks and playgrounds.
