|GHQ|FOCUS ON FRESH
GROWING THE GREENHOUSE PROJECT
North Shore Living Herbs has donated a wide variety of herb seedlings to La Quinta High School in California’s Coachella Valley, in
support of the school’s Greenhouse Project.
“What I like the most about this project is that it brought us
together as a community to learn more about healthy foods, plant-
ing and to help us take action,” says a freshman student from La
Quinta High School. “We are not only working for a great cause, but
we are doing it together. Thanks to this awesome project I con-
vinced my parents to help me create our own herb garden at home,
and we love it.”
The goal of the Greenhouse Project is to encourage students and
their families to eat healthier. It is helping to get students more
interested in where their food comes from, say officials for North
Shore Living Herbs, based in Thermal, Calif.
“North Shore has a long history of teaching our local youth about
sustainability and agriculture,” says Micki Dirtzu, director of mar-
keting at North Shore. “We believe it is our responsibility to keep
our youth excited about the future of agriculture through the use
of innovative technology, sustainability and first hand experience
growing live produce. We were thrilled to be a part of this project at
La Quinta High School and look forward to future opportunities.”
